Andrea McCallum
Andrea McCallum is an artist based in Muskoka who explores the natural world through printmaking, sculpture and digital media. Her creative process engages the space between the natural and metaphysical in the everyday. Andrea has been collecting rocks and pieces of nature since childhood, and her prints often emerge from emptying her pockets at the end of a long walk. Though repetition is everywhere in nature, it’s the small quirks in leaves, sticks or pine cones that make them magnetic. Rather than referencing images, she captures their essence directly onto linoleum blocks by eye.
Connecting with the energy of nature, people, and places adds an emotional layer to her prints. Her healing and artistic practices overlap for some projects, allowing experiences of the subtle senses to have a physical embodiment.
