Please Note:
Commissions booked will start in October, in the order they are received. Completion dates will be discussed upon booking, typically 4-6 weeks from date work begins.
I do not do portraits of people except an occasional graphic linocut if it feels aligned. If a portrait is requested, I may refund the payment. I also refund if I feel that a project is not aligned with my style, skill, or values to ensure only quality works are received.
Shipping costs for economic shipping are included. Any additional duty or other postage costs will be paid by the client. Options for local pick-up within Muskoka are available upon request.
Linocut Process
The drawing is transferred to the block (I usually do a rough sketch and freehand the details)
Linocut carving tools are used to carve away the negative space, leaving only the drawing meant to be printed on the block.
Ink is rolled out with a brayer (roller) and evenly applied to the block.
The paper is lined up with where you want the image to appear, and placed on the block.
Pressure applied by hand with a barren, or a small press, will transfer the ink from the block to the paper.
One print in the edition has been pulled! This process is repeated, and perfect/identical images can be made into an edition of prints to sell, usually ensuring these are the only ones that will be printed (which creates their value!)
These editions will consist of 5 prints.
