Leo Season Tarot Forecast + Journal Prompts
Leo season is one of my favourites! This sign is ruled by the sun and brings attention to vibrant fun, romance, creativity, confidence, and childlike wonder - what’s not to love?! It’s been a challenging year for many of us, and I am personally opening myself up to the beauty of this season. I want to soak up the sun, the softness, the boldness, and all of the creative energy I can!
The cards I pulled suggest that we may also be doing some inner work to complete cycles that have been preventing us from living the life of our dreams. As patterns and challenges emerge, see them as opportunities to make new choices that reflect the most iconic version of your being. I keep being reminded of the phrase, “stranger things have happened!” and I think we can all relate to that. Why CAN’T you have what you desire? Who says it’s impossible?! Dive into the imagination of your inner child rather than the bitter and logical voices that have perhaps steered you away from joy in the past.
For each week of Leo season, I’ve provided a reading and journal prompts for the Tarot card associated in the Cosmic Energy Report forecast. Listen here to receive our combined tarot and astrology messages for the month!
Leo Season Weekly Readings and Journal Prompts
15 The Devil (July 22-26)
-
The Devil card marks the transition into Leo season, and is also associated with Capricorn, fitting as the season shifts from Cancer/Capricorn energy. The Devil represents temptations, vices, and cycles that make us feel trapped.
For this week, I am drawn to the numerology: 1 (new beginnings) and 5 (freedom), which together make 6, suggesting liberation and the need to break out of old cycles by doing something new. Witnessing patterns allows you to take ownership of them, recognizing both internal and external influences. We have agency and opportunity to change. The Devil is not just about being stuck, but about the opportunity to liberate ourselves and find harmony.
Another aspect of the card’s meaning to note is its connection to contracts and commitments, and how this week is about recognizing what we’re ready to break free from, especially as Mercury retrograde highlights old patterns. She frames this as a time to get “sick of yourself” and old habits, and to choose a new path.
-
What patterns, habits, or cycles do I feel trapped by right now?
Where am I giving away my power—internally or externally?
What is one new action I can take to break free from an old cycle?
How can I reclaim my agency and choose liberation this week?
6 of Cups (July 27 - August 2)
-
The Six of Cups is a card of nostalgia, comfort, innocence, and fun - elements of the past that are still good and can be brought forward. Though there is rich potential in memories, try not to stay stuck in nostalgia or the “what ifs.” The Six of Cups is about using positive memories and emotional grounding to move forward, not backward.
I also am feeling that there is a connection with this card to the need for grounding, especially for earth signs. This is a week for reflection and identifying what truly brings happiness. I encourage you to focus on one thing that brings joy or a sense of accomplishment, even if it’s small, to help move out of a floating, uncertain state. She also ties this card to the ongoing retrograde energy, suggesting it’s a time to reflect on comforting memories and use them as a guiding force for future action. The Six of Cups, is also about inner child energy and finding balance before the energy picks up in the following weeks.
-
What memories or experiences from my past bring me comfort and joy?
How can I honor my inner child and invite more playfulness into my life?
Am I holding onto nostalgia that keeps me from moving forward?
What is one small thing I can do this week that makes me feel grounded and happy?
9 of Cups (August 3-9)
-
The Nine of Cups is the “wish fulfillment” card and holds positive, abundant energy. This week is about embodying the feeling of abundance and recognizing the work already accomplished this year. The Nine of Cups is about emotional satisfaction and the arrival of rewards, though that abundance may show up in unexpected ways. Abundance may not always show up as material gain, but as a shift in how you feel. This card is asking for you to let go of the inner critic and allowing yourself to enjoy the good things, rather than doubting or dismissing them.
This week is about connecting with others and that emotional connections may bring in some of this abundance. If you do nothing else, trust that good things are coming and that you are deserving, rather than trying to control every outcome.
The Nine of Cups is a reminder to trust, relax, and let abundance flow.
-
What does abundance mean to me, beyond material wealth?
Where in my life am I already experiencing “wish fulfillment,” even in small ways?
How can I allow myself to receive and enjoy good things without self-sabotage?
What am I grateful for right now, and how can I celebrate my progress?
10 of Pentacles (August 10-16)
-
The Ten of Pentacles is a card of material success, community, and tangible rewards. This may be the week when our trust, hope, and persistence begin to pay off in the physical world. It’s about time! This abundant card is about seeing evidence of your efforts, whether that’s financial gain, resources, or support from your community. Our attention is a powerful resource, so make sure you are acknowledging even the smallest wins as windfalls. It can be hard (especially for earth signs) to appreciate the first stages of growth and gain when we are waiting for the full harvest.
Another aspect I want to highlight is that it is about both individual accomplishment and collective support. While there is always more work to do, this is a moment to lean into abundance and celebration. Let it fuel you for the final push. The Ten of Pentacles is a sign that you’re not alone, and that the universe is rewarding your perseverance.
Leo season is about being seen, so enjoy feeling the sun on your face, and hearing others sing your praises a little. You deserve to feel the warmth and love you crave at every stage of the cycle. Enjoy seeing your progress reflected back to you, even if the journey isn’t fully complete!
-
What evidence do I see of my hard work paying off, even if it’s subtle?
How do I define success and community in my life?
Who or what supports me on my journey, and how can I acknowledge or thank them?
How can I lean into feelings of abundance and let them motivate me for the next steps?
9 of Wands (August 17-23)
-
The Nine of Wands is the “final push” card, representing resilience, persistence, and not giving up JUST before reaching your goal. This card has recurred throughout the year, circling around us with new lessons and perspectives. This card is about knowing that you’re almost there, even if there isn’t a lot of physical evidence. Many people have been talking about feeling like there is something big around the corner. The 9 of Wands is showing up as a beacon to confirm that you are right!
I feel as though we are seeing this card to emphasize the importance of what you’re fighting for. This is about letting go of what’s unnecessary and preparing for the next phase, but only after you’ve seen a hint of what’s coming. Because we’ve already had the 9 of Cups and the 10 of Pentacles this month, we have more evidence than we did before, so our brains can start to see how it just might work! It’s about trusting that the effort is worth it and that you’re on the right path, even if it’s exhausting.
Trust your intuition. It’s brought you this far, and will continue to carry you through as you cross the threshold into a new cycle!
-
Where in my life am I feeling exhausted but know I’m close to a breakthrough?
What am I fighting for, and why is it important to me?
What can I let go of that is no longer serving me as I prepare for the next phase?
How can I encourage myself to keep going, even when the finish line isn’t visible yet?
Keep in mind that “journal prompts” can be used for any type of reflection that works for you. Maybe you want to record voice notes, a podcast episode, or talk out loud on a hike!
